where is the ECU in a 94 WRX
#1
Just thought i'd take the ECU out and see if it's still standard. Where will i find it? (only had the thing for 2 weeks so excuse the ignorance) Any easy way of removing it?
cheers,
Marty.

Well I got it out and it looks untouched (though the bolts on the metal plate had been removed before). Looks standard to me but anyone else got any more info on which one it is. (94 WRX wagon)

Pete, yeah it's definitely a jap import (jap warnings on the sunvisors, flare holders, converted clocks, folding mirrors, rear wiper). Just trying to figure out why it (a 94 WRX wagon) has a TD04 turbo which wasn't supposed to have been used till a few years after my car was made. Then there's the ECU... dunno which car it's from either.

Marty,
They may have changed the TD05 to a TD04 as the smaller puffer (TD04) spools up quicker, as for the ECU it has been known for these to be changed across the range as a performance mod by owners in Japan (again IMHO). But in saying that though the wiring loom changed slightly after 96 / 97 I believe. So it shouldn`t be
any later than that, but i can`t tell from the chips in the pic.
