depends what year car you have got.... up to about MY96 your ok i think..... but if your car has the film type MAF sensor then you may get problems...! is your car around or later than MY98 at all..??

Turn ignition off, look under the drivers side and see the wires hanging freely (green ones and black ones, all single wire), connect the two black ones together.
Turn ignition on (but not engine) and the check engine light starts flashing. Long flash means 10, short flash means 1 and a long pause means end of code. Count up the flashes and look up the number in the following table.

Lucky for you, you can buy just the sensor and not the whole MAF sensor unit which does cost alot....just the sensor costs around £70, someone did post a part No: on here may be worth posting a thread asking the part no:
Make sure it is the MAF sensor that the problem first, but its likley it is.... and put a filter on that wont damage it again, i.e one that is not impegnated with oil like some..
