Tonight my 'Check Engine' light came on and now it wnt accelerate past 2,500rpm without stalling.
Any thoughts appreciated |
Turn ignition off, look under the drivers side and see the wires hanging freely (green ones and black ones, all single wire), connect the two black ones together.
Turn ignition on (but not engine) and the check engine light starts flashing. Long flash means 10, short flash means 1 and a long pause means end of code. Count up the flashes and look up the number in the following table. |
11 - Crankshaft Position Sensor
12 - Starter Switch 13 - Camshaft Position Sensor 21 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor 22 - Knock Sensor 23 - Mass Air Flow Sensor 24 - Idle Air Control Solenoid Valve 31 - Throttle Position Sensor 32 - Oxygen Sensor 33 - Vehicle Speed Sensor 2 35 - Purge Control Solenoid Valve 42 - Idle Switch 44 - Wastegate Control Solenoid Valve 45 - Pressure Sensor & Pressure Exchange Solenoid Valve 51 - Neutral Position Switch |
I'd wager its MAF :(
|
I tend to agree, but any of the lower numbers will either cause "sulk mode" or the thing won't work at all...
|
you havn't disconected the wires on the boost solonoid by any chance ???
|
If it is the MAF is it expensive.
Spoke to the Subaru mechanic on the phone and he reckons its beause I have an induction kit. Says they damage the airflow sensor is this true? |
No its a MY00
Am I looking at big bucks? |
Lucky for you, you can buy just the sensor and not the whole MAF sensor unit which does cost alot....just the sensor costs around £70, someone did post a part No: on here may be worth posting a thread asking the part no:
Make sure it is the MAF sensor that the problem first, but its likley it is.... and put a filter on that wont damage it again, i.e one that is not impegnated with oil like some.. Dan:D:D:D [Edited by dhorwich - 10/6/2002 12:28:15 PM] [Edited by dhorwich - 10/6/2002 12:28:59 PM] |
