i've got a 1990 subaru legacy wagon, one great car until now! car began to overheat after the AC was worked on. i can idle for hours with no temp change...drive 15 miles and go from normal operating temp to critical in a couple of minutes. new radiator, water pump, thermostat and still no luck. engine block and heads were inspected for cracks and nothing there either. no water in the oil or exhaust system. three different mechanics (2 were certified subaru) and still overheating. anybody got any ideas on where the gremlin is hiding in my car?

is it just the guage saying it is hot, or is the engine pushing its coolant out? as already said, could just be a guage sensor fault, so unless coolant loss, sounds more electrical than mechanical
