Question

On my way home from the East coast doing a constant 100mph for some miles, there was a clear stretch of road so I opened the car up. Around 125/130mph the Engine warning light came on. I pulled over to check the engine, there were no obvious signs of anything wrong such as steam from the radiator, loss of oil. I started the car again and the warning light wasn't lit, so I drove home 70mph and less with no apparent problem.

Had to go to Rochdale the same evening, car was fine driving there, on the return journey same thing happened as above but I was nowhere near the same speed. The car is a MY2000 any Ideas anyone. It is due a major service in around 1000 miles.

Hi
Could be any of the sensors that the ECU uses to check that it is doing the rite thing. Get the ECU codes read and you will find out. On my '94 sub it was the lamda sensor. The ECU will ignore a faulty sensor and use stored info 'till it is fixed but it will err on the safe side so the car will not run so well.

A very very similar thing happened on mine today.
Instead of stopping, I let the revs gradualy fall away to 50mph and it went off. Mine is also due a biggie service in a couple of months. (99MY)

Any more ideas - never lit before but I did have to put Optimax in after using SUL for a while. I have more and more doubts about that Shell stuff by the day...
