My car won't start up and makes a loud sparking noise when trying to turnover, a few have posted replies in general discussion but if anyone can help it would be appreciated. I have been informed that it could be a flat battery, it sounds too scary to be that but hopefully that is all it is!

Sounds like it could be the started motor not engaging properly.

Try hitting the starter with a hammer (the solnoid sticks) or it could be a flat battery (not enough juice to turn the starter properly).

I am in process of getting battery checked for amperage, it has 12 volts but not sure of amps.
