All,

Apologies if this topic has been talked to death - I did do a search but couldnt quite find the answer to my queries.

I've a standard MY99 Uk Impreza Turbo. I understood that it ran fine on normal unleaded, so I've been running on that. However, the other day when I was filling up I noticed the information printed on the inside of the petrol flap, saying Super Unleaded Only.

Is it likely that I am doing damage to the car by running Normal Unleaded (95RON)?

Geoff

I ran my standard 97 car on "ordinary" unleaded for four years without the slightest problem. It might have cost me a few BHP but I can live with that! The car ran perfectly and pulled like a train!

I've only just got the car, so I'm gonna wait for a while before changing to SUL, at least I'll be able to appreciate the difference. Well, as long as it wont do any damage by running NUL for a while.

Does anyone have any figures in terms of extra gain in bhp/torque by switching from NUL to SUL on a standard impreza turbo?

I've gainwed 2 mpg by swapping to SUL. If you can be arsed to do the sums you will see that even though your spending an extra £3.60 a tank you'll probably be better off in the pocket.

For the difference in price, I'd just stick SUL or Shell's Optimax in. The higher the RON the better the performance. DON'T BE A MEANIE !!!!!!
