Could anyone tell me what gear ratios the Type R STi's have in them.
It is a Version 4.

I believe the diff ratios are 4.44, but need to know the ratios for the gearbox....

Ver 4-6 STi Type R's all have the same gear ratios:

1st: 3.083
2nd: 2.062
3rd: 1.545
4th: 1.151
5th: .825

Final drive: 4.444

Note the extremely close ratios...this gearbox will sacrafice top speed on the altar of all-out acceleration (ie, you'll have better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, but a gear limited top speed). Sounds like a good sacrafice to me!

It works out at about 20mph/1000 rpm in 5th.

So in theory 7000rpm in 5th would be 140mph and 8000 would be 160mph.

I had 80 in 3rd with a little more to go till redline, is that normal??
