I believe the P1 backbox is a Prodrive exhaust, which should be free flowing (compared to a standard bb). To get really noticable gains, you would really need to look at decating the downpipe and centre.

It's less restrictive than the OEM twin pipe but not as free flowing as say a ScoobySport. It's quiet around town, 30/40 MPH, and only really makes a loud noise when you go over 4K RMP.

The std P1 silencer with an STi logo on the side of the tailpipe is basically the same as the std Turbo (twin pipe) silencer inside. The noise and performance are almost identical. Prodrive did not supply this.
The Prodrive silencer for P1 has a P1 logo on the tailpipe and gives a similar performance increase to other replacement silencers.
Harry, just because a silencer is noisier it doesn't mean it flows more, just that it's been developed to make more noise

I noticed a slight power increase when I fitted a P1 (STi embossed) bb to my MY96 Wagon but I think that was probably because the twin pipe one was shagged having covered 90k miles
It definitely slightly louder..... for 50notes I was happy...
for a bit..
P1 embossed BB is a totally different exhaust..
