Unhappy

In the last week my odometer and trip meter have ceased to function. The rev counter and speedo are both OK, so i assume the speed sensor isn't to blame. Has anyone else had this happen, and if so was it easy to remove the speedo and repair? I'm thinking it's jammed as it happened as the mileage was turning to 70K.

Cheers,

What year and model is your car?
Is it a digital odometer or analog?

Had the same problem on my 95WRX. Turned out to be the cable melting on the downpipe and jamming which caused the cable to pop out the top of the gearbox. Replaced the cable and now works fine!

Another thing to check would be that the cable is still plugged into the back of the dash. You should be able to do this by putting your arm up front the foot well.

When I had the problem the engine check light came on and set the revlimit to 4500rpm so I'd be careful about taking it over that until fixed as the limiter was very brutal when I hit 4500!

Question

It is an MY97 UK turbo with analogue dash. Zaz, did your speedo and rev-counter actually work, as mine are both fine? I assume a fault on the speed sensor cable would affect the operation of these as well as the odometer?
