There have been several threads on here recently
Sorry, can't directly point you at them

General consensus is that it is quite easy, apart from two tricky bits

1. Undoing the crank pully bolt
2. Holding the cam wheels stationary in the correct position when removing/refitting the belt
(as they want to turn even when in the timing position)

If your removing your radiator, then you will have pleant of room to work in

Commpressing the tensioner is easy in the early MY cars

Stephen
Planning to do it sometime

I am starting to sound like a broken record...

Might be worth changing the front crank seal at the same time as when the belt if off..

Otherwise your belt gets contaminated with oil (maybe) and you need to take the belt off again to replace the seal..

I was just looking at that Ravensblade pdf doc and it says that Subaru recomend that the timing belt be changed every 105,000 miles on the 2.5 engine ?
How similar are the 2.5 engines to our 2lt Turbo engines ?? and why do we have to change ours nearly 3 times as often.
105,000 is a hell of a lot between changes.

Behind the crank pulley..

It is easy to change when you are in there..

Mine went at just over 100,000miles but your car is a year older
so probably worth changing whilst you are there.

I'll see if I can find the info I got told when I posted it had gone..
