How much boost?
#1
How much boost is it safe to run on a 1994 standard UK engine?
I've fitted a Dawes Device & am currently running 1 bar because anything higher cuts the fuel. I'm fitting a Dawes AFR & fuel cut out raiser tomorrow which should allow more boost but I don't want to find out the hard way how much she'll take.

Cheers, 1.2 bar sounds OK & more to the point, safe, as I've seen all sorts of boosts talked about here without knowing what else they've done to the engine.
Mmmm... what's a fuel cut defender??
The cut out raiser (if that's the same thing) is a Dawes that I got with the Dawes SDBCRV 0.5mm boost controller as I was warned that I'd probably have this (fuel cut out) problem on my car.

Looks good then. Hopefully the Dawes cut out raiser will then allow me to get up to around 1.2 bar.
ECU DIY remapping sounds too scary for me. I'll leave that to the experts.

On a standard 94UK car fuel cut will occur at approx 14.87psi (just over 1BAR). But Boost needs to be held at this level for a couple of seconds in order for 'Fuel Cut' to kick in.
If you peak at this then drop back to 13.5(ish), things should be O.K.
A DIY Fuel cut defender can be built for about £12, which I used to run with actuator adjustments at 15.5psi.
This has been removed and 15.5psi is now being achieved using my DIY ECU Re-map.
