Original TD04 19 PSI at 2400 RPM, 1 bar at 2250 RPM was the best I could get. Now it is about 1000 RPM later

Just out of interest, here at Gecko Motorsport we're currently in negotiation with Performance Motorsport as an exclusive distributor of their stroker kits, wih 2.2, 2.4 and 2.5 kits/short motors available. When I've got some definite prices/details to announce, I'll post them up for you.

In the meantime, if anybody is ( seriously! ) looking to get one of these kits in their car, give me a shout, as I'm looking for a donor car to transplant the 2.5 block into.

Question

Hi folks it`s me again

Further to my recent posts and as u can tell I`m checking many angles at the moment Have any of you done a transplant from a legacy twin turbo onto an early WRX block? Or is it even possible?
Is there enough space? Am i right in thinking the floorpans are the same? Loadsa questions again on this line. Can any1 shed some light on it?

Thanks in advance

How about a 2.5 conversion with a hybrid turbo? Something those on the dark side might not have the option of

Some of the Legacy B4 RSK guys end up going single large turbo.

I know of one car in Aussie that has done a twin turbo, but both turbo's were large and sequential.
There would be no benefit whatsoever of putting a B4 set-up in a WRX. They are very hard to mod as the primary little turbo cannot sustain any level of increased power.

Go for the stroker motor and bigger turbo, cost you the same dollars and be a much better set-up.

Those on the dark side have a 2.5 litre twin turbo V6 (fully sorted!) to play with

Thumbs up

I would have thought this was a reasonable thing to do. Say 2 Garret T2's from a fiesta turbo, good for 200bhp each
That's assuming 400 bhp is enough for you Pete ?
The two teeny turbo's would 'probably' have a quicker spool up than one BIG turbo. On the 1600 fiesta full boost is there from 2000 rpm so as a rough calc, 2 off, on a 2000 should give full boost at 3200. (2000 x 2 x 1600 / 2000)

Then when you need 600 bhp, fit 2 TD04's instead

andy

so is what you are saying then, that 2 TD04ls would give you 1bar of boost by 5600!!

that is assuming that a td04 can achieve full boost ( 1bar) by 2800revs on a scooby?

Talking

Sam

My TD05 produces 1 bar well before 2,800 so I would expect a TD04 do do it a bit lower ??
As I said, it was a 'rough' guide as you need to consider volumetric efficiency, cam timing, exhaust pulse blah blah blah .........anyway, I was joking about the 600 bhp
(for now anyway )

ps, have you broke the 400 bhp barrier yet ?

I have read somewhere a place offering a twin turbo mod for EJ20 engine. Looked like a very simple mod.

andy

it has been a while mate since i have dealt with a TD04, does anyone use them these days but all i remember is subaru quoting that max torque came at round 2800rpm. so shoot me for being out

saying that that set up does look good, shame about the top mount.

and no i have not broken the 400bhp barrier yet i am at a mere 350bhp/260 at the wheels just now. so you still have the edge . fingers crossed i should get close to the 400 around end of september

saying that, 2 TD04s should give you 400bhp if you run them at 1 bar each. theortically anyway

obviously assuming that the head will flow that much power etc.. which i doubt to be honest!

Cool

Perfourmance Motorsport prepared a nice twin turbo 2.5, and also sell prebuilt strengthened 2.5 engines, for those who would prefer to buy a pre made package in rather than getting more involved in the build process, which would certainly help reduce the headaches involved.

lol @ David !

I'm looking to import the engines myself, and then find a competent garage to do the fitting work itself (how do you define competent ? Answers on a postcard ! )

Finding a good source of the EJ25 block looks like the biggest problem, as sourcing them from Auz seems a bit expensive to me. And no, I would be expecting you to pay for it ! Although, I'm sure as a donor car we could come to some arrangements !

I could be interested in a 2.0 / 2.5 short block depending on the spec, ie pistons, crank, big end mods, closed deck or open etc...

I await your posts..
