MAF reason for failure maybe?

not being very techy, but having read alot of posts re: Mafs i notced these pics on scoobymods (us based site), in one pic the author states that the scooby Maf differs to the bosch patented maf design, ive also read previously the VAG turbo units using MAF sensors also gave trouble and that bosch had revised the MAF design, is any of this worth considering and could the VAG maf be retro fitted to a scoob? the MAF sensor its self looks to be a generic part...

The hot wire / MAF sensors are not as precise / fast as a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. A MAP sensor will improve engine response and is cheap to buy (80-100 GBP). It will, however, require that you change the setting in the ECU to make it accept the MAP sensor, ie the ECU should be a programmable one...
