Should I service before a track day or leave til after
#1
Hi All,
My cars up for a 22.5K service in about 1000 miles(its on 21.5k now) I do 400 miles a week and I reckon itll be on 22.5 in about 2 weeks ish. However, on the 16th August Im going to donnington to do a track day.
So should I aim to get it serviced before? or wait till after - ittll be on 23k ish by then I reckon.
I cant decide if taking a freshly serviced car to the track is good or whether a service apre track would be best??? In someways it would be nice to know everything is up to scratch before taking it on track, but the other part of me says having it serviced after would be some simpathy to it.
Any suggestions, I cant decide
Andy

With the abuse your car would get on track and considering how old the oil will be by then, I'd say get it serviced on time regardless of whether that is before or after your track day. If it is before then I'd also recommend changing your oil again after the track day, and if the service would fall after the track day then change the prior to the track day. It may be expensive, but a lot LESS expensive than having your engine let go.

Ditto Chris' comments regarding the oil but if the service does fall after the track day please ensure that you check brakes, tyres etc prior to venturing on track.
Sorry if I state the obvious but I have seen people turn up with well worn pads and wonder why they fail to stop two laps into the day!

Right taking it in b4 then, bit worried it might need new pads or maybe front disks too, problem is, taking them on track brand new wouldnt be very clever would it?????

To answer the 1st Q, Service before and oil and filter change again after.
RE: new brakes and pads, it would be best to run these in first and then go on track - this has got to be better than going on track with discs/pads which are on their last legs...
