I've had my Scoob for about a year and a half now, and on average I get 260 miles from a tank of petrol. But recently, I had to change my battery, and found that I'm now getting about 280 miles to a full tank. Am I going insane, or is this quite possible? For most of my Scoob ownership, I've ran my car on Optimax.

I guess it's the fact that your ECU has been reset whilst changing the battery, rather than the neww battery itself, but you never know, a better spark can work wonders.

Cool

IIRC, The alternator should be driving the electrical system when the engine is running, the battery shouldn't really affect this. Fitting the new battery may well have reset the ecu and also will have remade the battery connections, which might also improve things.

In years gone by i serviced a rover 820 & could not get the C.O. down below 4.5% so i rung local dealer & was told to check the terminals for corosion as this would make a higher resistance in the system that the ECU would see. Gave the lugs a good brushing hay presto all sorted, so maybe scoobys suffer the same problem.

Dixie.
