"Classic shape" and MY01+ use a Lambda sensor to set the fueling levels on anything other than full throttle. Messing up this sensor will give a fault light (CEL). However, the MY01+ WRX (not the STi New Age) has two Lambda sensors - one for controlling the mixture (prior to the downpipe cat) and another to check the efficiency of the downpipe cat (immediately after it). Removing the downpie cat on a MY01+ WRX will give a CEL unless a fix is added.

PS Or more simply, what MY is your car?

Possibly.. dont worry about it until it does... then have a word with scoobysport, unsure if they sell their fix without their downpipes though..
