Just purchased a my99 a couple of months ago and quite satisfied,am starting to do the odd performance add on.Are the benefits of a de-cat downpipe noticable and worthwhile,(what are the costs).Secondary, what are they like to fit as ive been under the car for a routine check and it seems this area gets its share of salt and water and have visions of sheared nuts everywhere.Thanx

The answers to your questions.

(1)They are worth while with a full system (up to 15-20 Bhp)
(2)Price £120-£250
(3)There are a few options, Scoobysport,Bpm,Tsl,Hks,Blitz,Scoobymania,Magnex,S corpion,Jap innovations,Graham Goode,and it just goes on.

Personal choice is a Scoobysport

Regards fitting its not an hard job but if your not sure get it done by someone who noes what they are doing.

Very noticable

On a car that is around 3 yrs old there would be a real chance that the studs/bolts would be siezed...if you are not ok with this go somewhere and get it fitted.

Well worth doing!

i think in most instances they still gothrough the mot if they have one cat left on, eg centre cat, however my old my99 did go through an emissions test with no cats in!!

no they are all different, endless amount of threads you can look at.

some have twin dump downpipes, some have bell mouthed, some start at three and shrink down to standard at the centre, some stay at 3 plus al the way back.

play your cards right and the choice is yours

Decat downpipe was the best mod i ever did, until i started changing the ECU's and all that malarkey.

Just be aware it does make the car a lot noisier. Make sure that's what you want. Most people do. I did, up to a point, so i had mine lagged at the time of fitting by Scoobysport, and that took the edge off it quite nicely to me...
