It can be done, it might lead to problems. The main concern is that the ignition maps are the same as the STi 5 and mapped for 100 RON even if the knock sensor code effectively makes it more sensitive. You could more safely increase the boost by remapping the ignition timing as well on UK fuel.
If you are going to do it it would be wise to get some det cans and/or a knocklink or software to read the diagnostic info from your ECU.

Thanks John.
A Socketed EPROM, not an EEPROM? Oh.
Hmm...does this mean I can have software literally written to a new EPROM and pop it in the socket (as I would with the BIOS on an embedded controller)?
After all, Subaru must have spent a lot of time developing their software, it seems a shame to chuck the whole lot in the bin and run a different ECU. NOT that I am averse to doing this, just seems a shame: Would rather run same software with modified maps.
Correct me if I am wrong, but changing the ECU behaviour completely negates the need for a dawes device, and all the other Pneumatic butchery that people seem to commit in the interest of changing their wastegate behaviour?
Once the Wastegate Solenoid is not bleeding off power left right and centre, then doing anything to the wastegate actuator pipe is totally unneccesairy. Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

Just a quick supplementary question if a P1 is running 1.1bar, I have a Ver 6 WRX RA (on a VF29) and according to my defis its running 1.2bar why the difference, is the P1's boost turned down ie. not putting out 276bhp or is mine puttin gout more than 276bhp or is a P1 running a different turbo ?
(note: I still have a catted dp but straight centre and SSBB)
Just wondering,
ChrisP
