At idle, there is a noticeable ticking from the engine.

I know that there will be some tappet noise, but it seems louder than it usually is.

I'm probably being paranoid, but it's really bugging me.

 

mine is very tappety as well

 

But is there anything to worry about, or are they just that way?

 

Never bin down this road before with Scoobys (mine does it too), but with aluminium engines it has always been common knowledge that tappet noise is amplified.

I have read posts on changing to a different oil, maybe that would calm things down a bit.

Mine's been doing it too recently. Checked oil level, all ok. Mine seems to be coming from the battery side of the engine, from the cam area. I'm thinking the same thing "Is it normal or should I get saving"??????????

 

mine was comming from the battery side as well, just poured some mobile 1 synetic gone now. Then again its just me getting paranoid !!

 

Would be interested to know the oil recommendations if anyone finds those posts on this subject.

I think I will treat Scooby to a different oil and see if it quietens it down.
