Best 98MY upgrade to around 275bhp ??
#1
Now my warranty is out, I'm considering doing some work to boost power on my 98MY. I'm not looking for anything too manic or madly expensive, having looked through the Dyno.Scoobynet page it seems around 275bhp is possible via backbox, filter and a 'Stage 1' type ECU upgrade, can anyone comment or suggest what is a good option.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
David.

I have to agree that 280 is possible with Link + full decat + filter. I should be looking at 280-285 once my engine is rebuilt and the Link is remapped
Now all I need is to sort out this FMIC and 300 should be mine
What ecu are you considering?
Have you got a full decat exhausts (dont think you'll get near 270 without it AFAIK)
See ya around the 'deen

Hi Russell
Who's doing your engine work, a Link seems to be a popular choice, is there someone local (or within an hour or two) who can do this type of upgrade? What's the ballpark figure to get this done, around a grand?
I'm still running the standard exhaust, but it's coming up on four years old and is probably due a replacement soon, what's the story with a de-cat one, doesn't this affect the MOT emmissions test?
Loads of questions, I know...
Cheers,
David.

Russel, if you do fit a front mount replace the turbo with a bigger one first! The TD04 is cr*p with a front mount it becomes even more asmatic
If you want to keep the TD04 talk to Mark (R19KET) about the hybrid that he's developed as a straight swap...that with an ecu (Link or Gems), exhaust(downpipe, full system and ported manifold), fueling (Pump from Mark + bigger injectors) and breathing mods (Induction Kit) should see you up to 275 brake or so...just ask John Banks
If you want a little more safety and bit more power fit water injection too.
The next level (where I am with my 81k mile UK MY98) involves a bigger turbo (again from Mark) a Front Mount and Tubular manifold (talk to me for some good deals there ). At this level it doesn't matter if it's a uk or an Sti we're all getting similar power because it's really the limit for a 2 litre with standard internals running sensible boost (ie less than 1.4 bar)
