Engine Warning Light
#1
Took delivery of my new (01 model but 02 registered) WRX a couple of months ago. About 4 times now after hard acceleration to the red line, the orange engine warning light comes on. The car seems to run normally. It stays on for a few days and they disappears of its own accord. I've not had time to go to the dealer yet. Anyone experience similar?
P.S. My car is bog standard WRX.

Are you sure it's the engine warning light?
I would have thought that would be red. Orange is normally for minor problem lights. (empty washer bottle and other complicated problems like that )
The engine check light (is that the one you're talking about?) could be CAT problems or electrical. Is there an aftermarket alarm fitted?

Almost certainly a fault in the camshaft sensor, I had mine replaced under warranty as have plenty of others.
AFAIK it doesn't cause any great problems. If the light bugs you restart the car 4 times and it'll go away.

Yep, had the same problem. Was traced to cam shaft position sensor (or something like that). Heard this is not uncommon.
Take it into dealer, they can plug in a diagnostic computor, that should flag up the problem.

yep mine has done this a few times - try not too bounce it off the rev limiter so much - as the 2 times Ive done it, was for this reason(took it to garage, they plugged it into the computer thingy)
ask your garage, there is a fix they told me about if it happens a lot,
