Hi all,
Anyone got any experience with a driver's window misbehaving.
Its an Auto function switch obviously. Goes down as it should, wont come up on Auto and on manual comes up in short bursts maybe 6 or 7 presses to get the window up.
About 2 months ago it twice went up and before it closed, it opened again.
No other switches affected so I'm ruling out the controller and thinking either the switch or whatever limit sensor stops a child's head in the window - is it a function of motor load maybe?
I can rule out the switch with door card off and multimeter but if that's a dead end whats the next step in fault diagnosis?
TIA
In order to help you would need to clarify if it's an SJ model or a MY2012 SH (were MY stands for Subaru's Model Year) as a MY2012 SJ doesn't exist as although it may have been purchased/registered in the UK in 2012 given the idiosyncrasies of Subaru model years and when they were built.
SJ Build Dates for Europe , Aus and General Markets
SH Build Dates For Europe, Aus and General Markets
The 10th character of the VIN will be a "C" for Subaru's MY2012 or a "D" for MY2013........
SJ MY2013 Meaning of VIN
Hopefully the attached pdf's for the MY2013 SJ will lead you in the right direction.

I'm in South Africa. Registered 03/2012 according to the paperwork SJ9 but I agree a SJ comes up as 2013 in every reference I've ever found, so let's go with 2013 as you suggest.
Thanks for the PDFs @Don Clark I'll see if that sheds any light on it
That would be Lincoln Cape Town rather than Lincoln UK then SA comes under Subaru's General Market.
Reckon 03/2012 should have been 03/2013.
If you what to know its full ID put the Applied model Code or VIN into https://legacypic.uk/

Actually I lived in Lincoln until last year - I still have my GC8 in storage. I moved to South Africa and bought a Fozzy but owning a Subaru here is a nightmare if you don't live in Cape Town - no one else knows anything about them including Subaru and CT is 20 hours drive for me. At least Scoobynet has some experience and knowledge amongst its users.
I actually wonder if you're right and the paperwork is wrong! It was 2012 by mistake! That makes a lot more sense now.
now.
Unfortunately the vin decoder doesnt work for SA cars - I've only ever found decoders for UK or USA cars. I think it must have been built in Japan and imported to SA though since Africa doesn't have a Subaru factory.

Strange, South Africa uses the same standard VIN layout as detailed HERE
"Most" Subaru's are built in Japan and exported to the rest of the world. Yes some models are built in the USA but not all and now some assembly plants in Thailand and Malaysia.
Did you actually try the VIN and Applied Model codes options as it covers most including JDM models???
I just put this VIN into Legacypic and look at its destination......................
It gives the basic build date, some, but not all information, probably because most 3rd party VIN decoders don't have upto info given that this example is for a MY2019.
However.......
If you want, send me a PM with the VIN and I'll check for you.
