Default Which factory replacement short block?

I'm looking at buying a replacement short block from subaru to use with my version 5 heads in the v5 type R. Question is which one to go for. The thick wall n14 block from the later version 10 ? or the earlier version 7 type. I understand the v7 blocks have forged pistons but the later n14 type blocks although thicker walled have hypeutectic type pistons.
What's the stronger way to go without opening the blocks to change internals?
Also what gaskets will I need and what else to fit into the version 5.
cheers

if your in the UK then can assist with all of that in far more detail but in general terms then personally the latest so called "thick walled" blocks aren't all that and certainly don't have the capability that a certain seller claims.........

a lot would depend on your future ideas / power target / use

Alyn (Stockcar) is one of the most experienced people in the country when it comes to block knowledge. My advice would be to give him a call and have a chat with him. You will get plenty of opinions on here, but like anything, there are many myths being banded around as fact.
