VF22 and the reliability (Question)
Hi Guys,
i would like to get some advise from you. Iam driving a 02 UK STi and my stock VF35 has lost some power (producing only 1,5bar with disconnected bosst pressure control). Because there is nothing like a VF30/35/34 on the used market here in germany i bought a VF22 with only 20000km/12500miles on the clock.
I havenīt installed the turbo yet, but googled a lot and the most of the threads/postings sayed its not a good turbo. Most say that the VF22 doesnīt like more then ~1,3bar before the compressor wheel will brake. Can you guys confirm that?
I wanted to reach something like 350hp/355ps but havenīt found out yet if thats safley possible and what boost would be needed on the VF22.
Would i be a good upgrade to change the compressor wheel for reliability against something like a billet wheel from kinugawa?
If someone has any experience with the VF22 (specialy in terms of boost and reliabilty) i really would appreciate some info.
Best regards
My car:
2002 Bugeye STi
Walbro 255
High flow cat
Rest is stock
PS: sorry for my bad english!

I would recommend a VF36/ or 7 for your vehicle. I have previous experience of a VF36 hybrid built, with supporting mods it made 400bhp.
VF22 is limited to power it can make, turbine size etc.
