Blob eye suspension
Hi,
This is my first post so please go easy on me !
I've just bought a late 2003 wrx sti N10 rallycar and not knowing much about subaru in general im wanting to know if the track width is narrow on my car than a N11 or N12. I see the later ones have the small rear wheel arch trim and some have alloy rear suspension arms. Whereas mine are steel.
Is there a 'wide track' modification done or is it best to leave as it is ?
Also hubs, again I've been told that the smaller 100pcd hubs can end up with 'float' that creates pad knock off on the front brakes ? Is it work looking at changing hubs for 114 pcd.
Thanks for any info

The lateral link arms from the Hawkeye WRX are aluminium and will fit the earlier narrow track sti if you wanted to save a little weight but other than that it's not worth it.
there's not any real world difference to be honest.
Hi, yes newer cars have the wider track by about 15mm each side I think, a revised rear subframe and revised hubs. They also have driver controlled centre diff.

Rear suspension is beefed up with the alloy links and you also have the larger PCD hub unit.
To use the stronger front assembly you need different strut units.
The widetrack cars are 10mm wider at the rear total (5mm per side). The biggest difference is the front suspension where the hub assembly is much stronger with a bigger wheel bearing, the front strut mount on the hub carrier is also larger. The wheelbase is also longer by adding more castor at the front with different lower arms.

Do you know if you have to change drive shafts or is the 5mm at each side within tollerace for the shafts i have?
Thanks
