Default Roger Clark Motorsport Oil Filter Question

Hello, I have a 2007 Forrester XT for 5 years. I do the oil changes every 6 months and use Millers oil and the black Subaru filter. This time I tried the red RCM oil filter. I took it for a drive after doing it about 20 miles and checked everything was ok to find the oil was coming out under the engine. Closer inspection and it seems the x2 rubber O-rings that go from the dipstick into the sump have failed. I have some on order now. My question is would this be related to using the new filter? The description on their website says it produces a higher pressure which is better...Maybe this is just coinsidence but just wanted to ask for peace of mind. Should I just put a black one on again?
Thanks

Hence why everyone uses the JDM filters.

the sump should not be under pressure in normal circumstances so its purely coincidental I would think...........

I spoke to RCM themselves when I ordered a couple of these filters off them. They said that the increase in oil pressure is +0.1 or 0.2 bar. I did see a slight rise in pressure after fitting one but only by that ammount.

Joe, does one of the 2 types ( jdm black/RCm) not have a return valve then?

I've only ever used the old RCm black one, or jdm black, apart from a K&N that Enginetuner put on. Is there a difference between the RCM new red and old black designs, or was it just a factory/supply change?

I agree with Stockcar. Did you measure your oil out? Level correct?

They would have to have one otherwise they could end up being like a balloon. (I have seen filters burst before) They are just made to a different spec.
