Classic overheating anything other than head gasket :-(
Hi All
Think I'm clutching at straws here but has anyone ever had a failed water pump?
1997 UK Turbo with 215,000 miles - its been looked after, good frequent oil, warm up and cool down etc...
TD04 Hybrid & Apexi ECU to ~300bhp
A few miles ago radiator and top hose went on run to work - dual carriage way driving
AA chap used Kraken tape and magic gunge ..... I know I know
Didn't fix the radiator so truck ride home
New radiator installed and top and bottom hoses
70 mile round trip for a re-tune/map, its been a while and was struggling for MOT emissions
60 mile trip to airport
All seemed good
Return from airport and I lost a lot of coolant.
Have checked heater matrix and its not blocked
Have back filled coolant in case of air lock
Have replaced thermostat
Car warms up slowly - normally, when driving sensibly
Once temp gets to about 88C it goes through the roof very quickly and it spits coolant out of the over flow passenger side.
Top rad hose obviously hot
Bottom one cold
There's no coolant flow
Everything I've read suggests I've got a cylinder head gasket failure, which I'm afraid is likely to right the car off.
Its my 8 yr old's pride and joy - the family labrador if you like, so I'm looking at every possibility and probably in denial
Has anyone ever had a failed water pump.?
In all honesty the one in there was changed only once as far as I can remember so its done 125,000 miles
Any other possibilities?
Thanks
