Default 2003 WRX Mod investigation

Hi all,

I have just purchased a really clean 2003 WRX wagon.

From the outside you would think it is stock.

I am trying to work out what it has had, mod wise.

Under the bonnet I can see a cone intake, dump valve, large FMIC, catch can and many new hoses. It also has a rather loud and obnoxious exhaust that I can easily fit a coconut in :-)

I have been told it also has a Walbro 255 fuel pump and a decat. It also has an anti lag switch which certainly works.

I have been told it is running 300 BHP which it certainly feels like (up to 80 mph at least).

It's been a long time since I have had a jap motor (last was a supra back in the day).

I want to try and work out what else it may have, such as a hybrid turbo, injectors, ECU etc... but not really sure where to start... I am also wondering what BHP is safe to run if I do find I have more supporting mods? I am guessing it is setup to run more as the FMIC seems over kill for 300 bhp??

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Mike

Also I would be very interested in any advise on entry level coil overs, camber settings and tyres for the track! I expect the WRX will visit the Nurburgring next year!

Also dose anyone know stock boost pressure and then boost pressure vs BHP gain... E.G. what boost pressure would you expect to be running at 300 BHP.

Hi Mike,

Million dollar question but being in Devon, take it to Alan Jeffries for a rolling road. They can give you a realtime bhp, could put money on it being slightly less than you think though. Just out of curiosity, I'm looking at 2.0 WRX wagons atm, how much did you pay for yours and what mileage etc?

I can't find any with less than 120k on within 150 miles of Exeter and they're coming in around 3k with 125k miles on
