Default Key has stopped working

Hi folks, looking for some help. I've left work tonight and when I've got to my car my key doesn't work. I've been and bought a new battery and gone back. The key still doesn't work. Just nothing at all when you press the button.
Any idea what it could be? Or what do I have to do if the key isn't fixable?
Thanks

First off, we are talking Bugeye WRX ?
Is it still fitted with the Sigma alarm?
Does the key open the door (manually) ? (presume alarm will go off)
which begs the question do you know the PIN?
Sounds as if the key needs pairing with the alarm again.
Have you another key that works?

Yes the alarm goes off when I open the door and you guessed it I don't know the pin
This is the only key I have also.

Without a working key and not knowing the PIN would mean you are out of luck.

You can try an get the original PIN from Subaru and see if that works (has probably been changed in the cars lifetime) or see if the previous owner knows the current PIN, but as you've also only got one key, that's probably not going to bear any real info.
In case you don't know the keypad for the alarm should be/is in the coin holder near drivers right knee.

Looks as if you may need a Scorpion/Toad/Sigma alarm technician who can input an override PIN to reset the system and then re-pair the key to the alarm.

Also as the keys/alarm get older the button's microswitch on the key pcb can fail.

Weve had the key apart in work and tested the switch, it's all working as it should. Just seems weird that I locked the car at dinner time and when I went back it doesn't work?
The car came with zero history or paperwork. Think I'm stuck then as far as what I can do for myself. Typical as I'm putting the car up for sale next week.
Having a hatch sti to replace it.

I've spoken to subaru and they have given me a few different codes. The only 4 digit one is what they are saying is the radio code, then 2 more to do with the imobiliser, 1 is 9 digits long and the other is 7 long.
Does this sound right? I was expecting a 4 digit pin tbh for the alarm/immobiliser?
Thanks for any help guys

Normal user PIN for the sigma M30 alarm is 4 digits.
Am unsure whether the original Kenwood H/U required a PIN

I said to them on the phone that the pin should be 4 digits, they said that is all codes stored for my car on the subaru database, they also gave me the key cut code and another to do with the key too.
So I'm stuck.

Thanks for this, I contacted them this morning and gave them the imobiliser number that subaru gave me and they were able to give me the code, which luckily has never been changed and I now have a working key again!
Thanks again.
