Fuel Return Line Damper
Hi Guys,
I'm running parallel fuel rails, ID1000 injectors, RCM340 fuel pump, with aftermarket FPR. Just recently I've started noticing this almost honking noise when I click the key to prime the fuel lines. It's coming from the FPR. I had the Mrs prime it a few times whilst I was poking around and there seems to be a fair amount of pressure build up in the line between the FPR and the return line fuel damper whilst the noise is present. The return line fuel damper is original to the car and has been on it since new.
I think the return damper is causing the issue by allowing too much pressure to build up between the FPR and said damper. I've had this set up on the car for over 1500 miles without an issue until now.
I'm wondering if I even need this damper with the fuel rail set up I have? I'm running a fuel pressure guage and my pressure is fine and it holds it for ages with the iginition off etc. I've got no leaks either. I'm going to test tomorrow by priming it and having the return empty into a bottle to see if the honking noise stops.
Cheers
Scott

When I fitted my parallel rails etc I removed mine. I noticed there was an increase in noise from inside the car. Almost like you could hear it flowing. I also thought it might of been my exhaust blowing. Anyway I refitted it and the noise has gone so I would say to keep it
