Turbo choice - advice please.
Hi,
Looking for some advice on turbo choice,
Car is a Impreza WRX 2009 hatch, 260bhp need to get sports cat downpipe bigger intercooler etc but I also want to add a new turbo at some stage and that’s were I need your help.
Most of what I can find goes a little like this,
vf30 turbo good torque will be cheaper good for 340bhp at flywheel.
vf34 turbo similar to vf30 but just newer has bearing more reliable.
g25660 garret turbo is what I want, yes I know it will blow current engine to pieces but can you turn it down so it only makes 350ish bhp and then increase once I have forged?
Basically, I want to try get 400+ at some point and I can imagine the turbo will be first hurdle and by getting the monster turbo im hoping it’s a one and done type of deal.
Please advise.

Don't forget the WRX Hatch is different to most other Imprezas and uses a different turbo/intercooler/inlet manifold setup.

Have you actually looked at/read the link I posted and read Matty81's (who has a WRX Hatch and modded it) posts and replies??
Do you not notice the difference in the compressor housing??
Unless you are talking about a WRX STI hatch (rather than a WRX) you are going to have to make serious modifications to the complete inlet system to fit a G25660.
Even for a WRX STI it's not exactly plug and play

Yeah I did read it and it seemed they modded the housing to fit, I think im gonna struggle with the turbo I want because i dont think you can the mod housing on it so gonna have ti chat to guy at central turbos and see what they think. Thanks again.
