Default Half moon seal inside block!! Help

finally got round to having a go at the rocker cover on my classic. There was a leak and one of the half moon seals had fallen inside the cover. Now its off I can see that the half moon has slipped through the oil drain at the back of the engine block.

Is this a total disaster? What are the chances of recovering the half moon piece via the oil sump?

help!

You were warned at least it wasn't running and got jammed in the valve train. Would say engine out will be the only way.

FFS!!

The seal has slipped through a hole as below, do you know if I am right in thinking this is an oil drain to the sump?

Have you tried a magnetic pickup tool?

Get a hoover, reduce down in size the suction hose to allow it into the head oil drain & go fishing, that's how I got one out.

Good idea that Wonder if you drained the oil and a dart down the dipstick hole with the air line would budge it.
