Default Sticky clutch pedal, classic

I've found my clutch pedal sticks slightly when returning, not far from being back at the top. Is there some sort of adjustment on the classic? I have already fitted a braided hose and bled the clutch but that hasn't made any change. Replaced the spring under the intercooler with a new one too. Seems to be something to do with the mechanism of the pedal itself.

Check that the clutch return spring located under the intercooler is present.

Check which way the bolt is through the top gearbox mount. If through the wrong way can forum the spring/arm slightly

I had exactly the same problem as you on my old type r.

After doing all the same thing's as you i took it to a specialist who found there was a broken weld somewhere on the clutch pedal mechanism, lucky for me they had a classic there they were braking so put that pedal in my car which cured my problem.

When mine did this it was due to worn bolt holes on the pedal pivot. Took me ages to work it out and a new pedal fixed it.

The clutch pedal design changed for MY98 onwards.
In either case it could be worn pivot bushes or the helper spring in the pedal box.

Opposeforces only shows the LHD setup but parts are similar so have include the database pics for RHD models

Cheers Joe, hadn't even considered that.

Don, are they interchangeable? Or shall I just buy the spring and bushes from my year and replace both?

Cheers Don. I will get them ordered as they are probably worth changing anyway.

While it’s apart check the bolt holes for elongation. I stripped mine to do the bushes and bolt and it was the same after, when I looked closely it was the elongated bolt hales causing the problem. Had to do the job twice because I assumed wrongly it was the bushes and it’s a bit awkward getting the spring in.
