Defi Control Unit Smoking
Hi all,
My Defi Genome Control Unit started to smoke this afternoon so i whipped it out quick smart to find this
the second picture shows one of the rails has burnt through but the gauges appeared to still be working.
I was thinking of dropping a blob of solder on to the break to reconnect, thoughts?

Hey Zany, it was one of the wires on the back was loose in its plug I moved it and that was enough.
It was the power cable, it must be loose as the back lights were off so I checked the cable was not loose. Need to get a new cable as it's a bit tired.
Another question with that in mind where's the best place to get a genuine cable?

Thanks for the help Zany, on friday I did ome further investigation and found the metre wire to be the culprit. Two of the wire shorted where they had slightly frayed at the plug.
I put them carefully back in and reconnected to see which damage had been caused tot he rail and it would appear it was the power for the bulbs in the gauges. The actual operation was unaffected. I dropped a blob of solder on the break in the rail and the gauges now light up.
it all remains unconnected for now until the new meter wire turns up from Nengun
