Default P0024 - Powertrain Fault

Hi all,

My car has been running fine and today whilst cruising down the motorway it went into limp mode. Having read the fault with Torque Pro I get the following:-

Any ideas and how serious is it?

Thanks

First of all check your oil level as this code will pop up if it's low.
Ive also had stuck solenoid valves with bits of engine sealant, swarf and other foreign objects stopping the plunger in the valve.

Did you get to the root cause of this issue?

I've got a 2009 WRX STI 330s on 83K and these two codes have appeared so I'm in the process of working out what the root cause is too.

Doing some research it sounds like there are a number of possible causes:-
  1. Oil Low
  2. Wrong oil use synthetic.
  3. Timing belt misalign << This has been replaced and re-checked.
  4. AVCS solenoid not working or slugged up because of wrong oil
  5. Faulty AVCS Gear
