Hi, quick one, I'm after the official legal document that defines what colour lights should be fitted to a motor vehicle. IIRC it's the Construction and Use sections of the Road Traffic Act but I've got that (http://www.hmso.gov.uk/acts/acts1988/Ukpga_19880052_en_1.htm) and it doesn't really tell me much.

Cheers in advance.

What you actually need is "The Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986

Thanks very much. Next question, is this available on the web anywhere? HMSO only appear to have documents dating back to 1988.

the short answer is NO, but the lights should be white to the front, red to the rear, and orange indicator lights. Anything else is illegal, particularly those stupid little blue neons in the washers!

In general, The Road Traffic Act says that you are guilty no matter what you have or have not done. You have no defense, The police man/woman is always right. Guilty unless by some miracle you have about 20 witnesses to prove that you may possibly be innocent, and even then you are guilty anyway.
