Which fuel pump
99 UK turbo with prodrive ecu. Been thinking the pumps probably the original so time to change it. Was going to go for a rcm or walbro but then after a bit of googling looks like maybe they could cause the car to overfuel by creating to much pressure at the rail. Is there any truth in this? Am I better off going for a std pump as not looking to get more power just want a reliable pump at a decent price

I have an 00 UK turbo and replaced mine with a Walbro for the same reasons. The Walbro is noisy though, but it works fine. I did have it remapped as I replaced several other parts.

Walboro in mine for 12 years and 130K miles.
Never noticed mine noisy Rob?
Standard Fuel Pressure Regulator if original more likely to cause issues with fueling, I'd suggest changing that at the same time as which ever pump you get hold of.

Walbro are a great company to deal with too
Bought a pump off them a few years ago, fitted it and it wouldn't reach the required pressure for whatever reason. They swapped it out no questions asked.

Thanks for advice. Going to go for an rcm and a new fuel pressure reg.
any recommendations on the fuel reg. Ideally one that is a straight fit, improvement over std and not silly money

So it looks like you need an adaptor to fit an after market fuel reg . You can then fit pretty much any one you just need some fittings and somewhere to mount it. Can't seem to find an Impreza specific kit with all the fitting I would need.
so I'm just going to go for new std reg. Anyone know who made the original ones? Subaru probably charge silly money.

If your just replacing the fuel pump you dont need to change the regulator. And you dont need to map the car unless it has been mapped previously on a known weak pump and the fuel trim compensated for the weak pump. (that can cause overfuelling when you then fit a strong more powerfull pump)
A mapper will explain what i mean better.
We do both RCM pumps and our own

Thanks for the reply. I like the sound of your pumps, straight fit with the right sock and filter sounds good to me. Not sure which fitment I will need though maybe a 342 as I have 99 UK turbo. Does that count as a late model not sure. How can I tell will I have take a look in the tank and see what I have

I own a SWRD 290 collosus.
They had a bunch that were a little troublesome, I initially had one of those, but then I think they changed suppliers and got a new one on warranty.
I personally prefer the SWRD over a Walbro, mainly because it's a straight fit, it's a bit quieter (not much of a difference, they both are acceptable) and 290 is more than 255 .
It's been working great for 2 years now, I would definitely buy again.
