Default 2 in 1 = 2.1 Stroker + VF35 or What turbo?

So guys, just looking around to see what to look forward when car is done. (currently i got a VF35)

Who's getting what with:

2.1 stroker + vf35.
2.1 stroker + vf35 & meth?

Q2 : what would be a cheap`ish turbo to get me over 400bhp on pump fuel. (i believe vf35 might do it with meth, we`ll see). By cheap I mean under £700.

Other specs are just normal v4 sti heads,
550cc injectors, paralele and fpr setup.
decat, rcm up-pipe, fuel pump, front mount etc and mafless, 3 port solenoid etc.

Kind Regards

No cheap 400 bhp turbos really,Maybe try a TD05 20G which can be had for reasonable money and are known to hit the 400 bhp + range.SJ.

I got 337hp and 342lbs/ft on a 2.1 with a vf 35. Pnp headers and turbo, blitz nur spec and not much else I think. Drives very well with low lag. Wanted 450hp but run out of money but I'm well pleased with how it drives.

Yes same here, money is an issue after fresh engine etc. hence I will keep vf35 for time being (and curious what could achieve) .

Turbo wise when I specified £700 i meant used turbo. No new turbo for £700 could do that, unless ebay-specia which I don`t want to buy for obvious reasons

i tried a ebay td06 20g on my old wrx and seemed fine but after about 200 miles I noticed the car was using a bit of oil, gradually got worse but was on a fresh rebuilt engine, turned out the turbo was leaking oil down the downpipe.
It didn't fail so to speak and had a normal amount of shaft movement.
I was running the engine in as well so it's not like it had a hard time.
It might be hit and miss whether you get a useable one as Ive read you've had success with yours

not had a bad Chinese turbo yet in the ten years I've ran one.
They need the correct size oil restrictor of course like all turbos

That's the reason is not worth paying for a Chinese turbo. Not worth risking the new engine on that.

At the moment I`m thinking looks like only two options, some old MD series turbo if I can pick up for £700, tho I doubt it when new they are over 1.6k or maybe there`s a guy "Craig Bellworthy" he`s know to build good turbos.

Them Mamba turbos would be another choice but I think for same price Craig could probably build something nice like a TD05 with 20G etc, need to get some quotes first.

Ive used a few Chinese Copies on my Mini's and I know of a few guys that use them on Skylines with no Probs what so ever.

You can buy subaru TD05's for roughly £130.

I picked up a GT1752 £105 brand new with warranty and had no probs so far!!

Mamba turbo fitted on mine. Gtx35 on a 2.3 making circa 600 at 2bar with no issues at all.

We've just removed it to allow some upgrade works and quick check reveals it is all good after some hard work and will be bolted straight back on.

I bought an old sc420 that was fitted to a p1 with Alcateck and made 400. I stripped it to check condition and I didn't want to use it. I got onto Owen developments with part numbers and they told me it was a Garrett 3071 iirc. Quoted me less than 500 for a brand new genuine garret core. 700 odd for it billet. Still leaves it very cheap.
I just used a vf 35 because I couldn't stretch to management and injectors at the time

On my 2.1 I had the SC40, I made 442 on pump and 474 with meth. very very good setup.

I am now on GT30 and made 525 on pump and 554 with meth, this was a screamer pipe, which is now off and making just under 500 and 525 with meth.

I will try and find a graph later on for you ,,, don't think there are many suppliers in the uk and most tend to put a lot of money on top making them similar price to uk turbos , buying direct would save a bit on that I would of thought , but Owen developments stocks them I think

As I said I got mine as a used turbo off here for £500 and has been a great turbo and even impressed bob Rawle by how it performed
