Rich I went side exit on mine to begin with but found it caught on my trailer when I was loading the car it exited on the drivers side just infront of the rear wheels and was quite low down this could have been fixed by welding/fabricating a tunnel in the floor pan and also cutting a tunnel into the sill but as my plumbed in system is just behind my seat i would have had to change all that also my sill stands holes were in the way.
ended up changing it to a single box and due to having a flat boot floor was able to lift it higher the exiting through the rear bumper with a down turn to help with noise tests.

All my pics are on FB, but I've had a custom side exit made by a local engineer and also top notch exhaust place...
Pics will be in Banzai mag next year, sorry I know that doesn't help you right now.

hotter gasses flow faster = more power
lower back pressure = faster flow = more power
the idea is just to get the gasses hot as poss and out as fast as poss with as little restriction as possible.
however you manage that its all good

Sorry not been able to get pics yet been busy at work.
If you have removed the standard tank it's very simple to go side exit if not its a bit harder and not as easy to get a decent flow.
If you exit forward of the front wheels and intend to compete in the car you won't be able to run in any MSA organised sprint event.

I will be reading the regs before I carry out any mods, I intend to exit just in front of the rear passanger wheel (or thereabouts making sure I still have a jacking point).
You will be more familiar with the regs than I am so as long as i dont have it coming out the front bumper then I should be fine.
Yes I have a large gap where the fuel tank was on the pass side so should get a backbox fitted in there, I will have a better idea of the space I have to play with once I get the car back together and put it up on a ramp. Its currently on axle stands in my single garage so not the easiest to work with when theres limited space
Cheers
