Default '02 STI Bonnet release not 'releasing'

Ladies and gents, I go out to check a fuse, reach down and pull the bonnet release catch and......nothing (despite it coming back all the way).

So, I presume the cable has snapped and therefore need an alternate way to release the catch.

I therefore turn to the superior knowledge of you guys to see if anyone knows how to open without destruction of the grill / bonnet/other body part.

Any assistance is appreciated

Try using a coat hanger to start with if possible. Not sure if this will work due to the shape of the front of the bonnet, but worth a go.

Get someone to pull the release lever while at the same time have someone pressing down on the front of the bonnet and then pulling up on the bonnet.(Will not work if the cable is broken).

If the cable is broken as above in the posted video is most probably the only way you will be able to get the bonnet open, they can stretch and snap over time i always try to spray WD40 around most cables locks etc.... to help keep them moving more freely.SJ.
