downpipe on hawkeye same as earlier new age ?
As title guys my hawkeye has a 3" H&S down pipe, with a cobra 3" system, i love the angled exit on my old classic scooby, managed to get hold of a kakimoto from a 2005 Spec C. and it appears i would need to remove at least 4" from the centre section, so would i need a different downpipe or would i be better getting a new centre section made up ( that's assuming i can find some one who can make me one up locally)

The 2005 SpecC has a "similar" turbo back exhaust setup to the UK Hawkeye, so in theory should fit without modification.
MY05 SpecC
MY06 UK Hawk
It was only when you start mixing the 3 part JDM and 4 part UK exhausts you end up needing to use a different centre section
Checking the part numbers, both use the same centre section 44201FE040 (item 30/44102BB)

Get what your saying mate (BTW thanks for the reply) however as i'm changing the full cobra system for the full kakimoto system, i assumed that it would be a straight swap, i'm not trying to mix and match, my thoughts were that perhaps the 2.5 UK uses a different down pipe to the JDM one, checked H&S website and they don't show different downpipe for 2.0 as opposed to 2.5, so i assumed they were identical, but when i line hangers up it looks like i need to remove either about 100mm from either the downpipe or the centre section

Assuming your UK vehicle has the correct model year downpipe and cat back exhaust, it suggests that if you need to shorten the centre pipe by about 100mm, the Kakimoto full cat back is actually from a MY04 SpecC which had the 3 piece (classic style) JDM exhaust system where the donut joint is nearer the front of the car and has a longer centre pipe.
Easiest and probably cheapest job would be to shorten the centre pipe to suit rather than replacing the downpipe.
