Default 2.5 engine conversion for classic but which engine is best

As tittle.. Looking to source a 2.5 short or long engine for my classic conversion.
Is there a particular engine code to get or is there only one type?
Cheers

You not consider twin scroll ej207 as an alternative?

So a ej207 is a 2ltr!
Don't want twin scroll as I would have to ditch a lot more than just the engine

An early 2.5 or a forged 2.5 , mainly to avoid ring land issues , a fsti lump would work well

Is there a particular engine code to look for or are they all the same?
Also what sort of price should I expect to pay for an sti shirt or long block.
I see that icp sell brand new short sti engine for £2k roughly

I think the fsti is an ej255 , but in real terms is not a lot different from a ej257 , I would suggest looking for a rebuilt forged engine , do you have every thing to run the 2.5 compared to running a 2 litre ? Price wise 2 to 4 k ,it's mainly about digging around for one and proof it's a good running engine , I would think the forged route is the way to go , or source one and get it rebuilt , any reason you are going for a 2.5
