Anyone help?
Im pretty sure ive got rod nock:
Its a 2002 jdm bugeye wrx 86k
Its been mapped to 280bhp
Ive spent a fair bit new suspension gearbox etc
Is it worth keeping? What are my options?
How much would the bottom end cost to be rebuilt etc?

Just a local mechanic, so maybe not the best, it was mapped by race dynamix few months ago, cambelt was changed before map with all pulleys pumps etc. No other mods since the map
Its a wrx
Sport cat into decat
Walbro pump
Induction kit
Sti intercooler
Thats about it for mods
Its low miles 86k service history is up together

Live on an island- sometimes it completely runs out of super unleaded, up to a month at a time last time, anyhow when it was mapped i was always using tesco mem99 then cos of fuel probs last time i had to use 97 from a small garage.
Took on a dual carriage way and when i came off it had a nock which was constant. Hobbled home off boost.
Next day started it up and nock wasnt there until revs held at around 3k have driven again off boost and can be heard when dropping gear or blipping accelerator

Can you get a video of the engine when running?
It might be worth just whipping the Cambelt cover off to check tensioner hasn't come loose.
If it is bottom end then you are probably best getting a 2nd hand bottom end and putting your heads etc on that.
Buy from a reputable breaker like Matty on here.

Yes easy to get covers off,you can just take n/s one off and have a feel of the belt, should be enough to tell you if its loose,to get to the tensioner you have to take centre cover off which means removing crank pulley(also pretty easy)
To post a video, upload one to YouTube then add the link to your post.

not looking good then bud
running on 97 ron probably didnt help, should have chucked in some octane booster when the good stuff wasnt available, especially if it happens often.
