If it's standard then no but if it's modified ie running quite a bit more boost pressure then yeh as the increase in crankcase pressure benifits from a catchcan

Cheers jay, had it road mapped by duncan from race dynamics so no dyno print out for boost level, should be kicking out 280-290 bhp duncan reckons at the mo but another map aint far away coz av vf35 and pinks to go on plus bigger intercooler at some point, cheers fella

Cleaner intake for a start. In standard form the oil breather system plumbs back into the inlet pipe pre turbo, so any misting will be left in the inlet pipe, be passed through the valves into the combustion chamber and burnt out the exhaust system. Take for example you do a few hard launches and corners on a track day, theres a chance the oil surge could push a little more than normal into the breather system, which will go back in the inlet and hey presto, you have blue smoke from the exhaust and you **** it thinking the cars fubared. Lol

Personally, worth fitting to a modified car thats used "properly" shall we say 😂

Another alternative as some do, T the breathers and run a pipe under the bulkhead and cable tie to the gearbox mount so it vents to atmosphere. Works as well and cheaper option if its a daily but not tracked 👍

Also... there's a theory that the the gases from the oil can decrease the gasoline octane level.

I have one fitted to my highly modded blob sti and it's never caught a drop of oil yet after 12k miles it just seems to collect dirty water that smells like old petrol. Some people use a return to sump style system which in my opinion is madness from what I've found in mine.

I would deffo recommend fitting one to any turbo car that uses the same system regardless of mods.

I fitted one to my hawk Sti, I did find I was getting oil in my intake track and intercooler. Especially with higher than standard boost levels, Since fitting it has completely stopped and oil consumption is non existent.
Here's a write up on my set up.

What he said ^ plus no residue in your inlet/intercooler. If youre running high boost and driving it as it should, its a value added if not essential modification.

I'm intrigued into the vent to atmosphere setup , being a daily driver not sure I want a can , but venting to atmosphere can make for a smelly gunky mess I reckon ?

i run an Air Oil Seperator setup then vent back into a plastic bottle stuffed down beside the washer bottle - mainly because they can still get a potential surge if running standard sump on hard track driving - its meant to vent back into intake but its been blocked off, so fresh air only
