Hi. I started taking out my newage wrx injectors this evening, and have a couple of questions. I have done one rail, and one injectors seemed very loose in its hole before removal ; is this normal, it was like the rail was holding it in place. Perhaps the o ring seal has shrunk with age ?
Also, is it unwise not to refit the protection brackets, otherwise known as brackets of death ?

I reused my o rings when fitting pinks to my wrx, that was over 4 years ago now with no ill effects. I also never refitted those god awful brackets,makes any maintenance down the side a little easier.

Mine were slightly loose but not what id call dead. The pressure of the injector rail pushing the injector in should be ok as long as the ring is circular (ie no breaks/cracks) it should mate and seal just fine.

 

Thanks; just finished getting them out....you learn as you go but I now fully understand why it`s called the bracket of death. I called it some other things beside! There was also a side story with a reversible ratchet spanner that got wedged in, so I am going to invest in some decent switchable ratchets. It only got wedged in because I did`nt take out the breather casing first.
The lower seals were definately loose, as dirt had travelled past them, so I`ll get some new ones.
Is it worth replacing the soft return fuel line on the drivers side whilst I am at it ?
