Not sure how best to tackle this other than replacing the rear discs and pads to see if that gets rid of it, which seems a bit extreme.

I can hear the rear nearside when I have the window open and it stops when I apply the brakes, but when I do apply the brakes they sound a bit rough. Not too worried about that in itself as there's loads of life left but I haven't a clue really how to stop the bloody rubbing noise.

It's actually starting to drive me mad!

 

sounds like they need stripped and checked/cleaned??

 

It could be a rust build up on the inside face of the disc , or it could be rust building up on the back plate and rubbing on the disc , we see this a lot when changing discs , you need to take them off to see , if so clean it off with a wire brush , apply a bit of paint and put it back together

Cheers guys. I'm away in the lakes so stuck with it, will get home tonight then away all week with work. The discs have a hell of a lip on them so just going to change the lot as soon as I am able.

Sounds like the backing plate has a build up of rust, I get that sound when I corner hard sometimes...... Need to get it done

 

I had the same issue until this weekend when I replaced the rear pads( one had work at an angle so I thought the noise was coming from that), turned out my disc sheild not only had a build up of rust that was rubbing on the disc it also seems to have completely rotted to the point that when I grabbed one to try to bend it back away from the disc it damn near fell apart in my hands....time to replace me thinks lol
