Default Loss of power problem?

Hi there so for about a month now my 99 impreza has had a lot of hesitation in power and just generally feels slow, as in when i put my foot down it bogs out.

The CEL was on so i read the code turned out to be lambda sensor so i replaced that. No fix still lack of power

Checked the light again got about 5 different codes including the Map sensor so i changed my map sensor and cleared all codes. At the same time i changed all 4 spark plugs with new ones, i noticed one of them had a rather a lot of oil around it(i presume it is the spark plug gasket) The car ran perfectly and had lots of power again.

a few hours later the CEL came on again and back to occasional loss of power. Read the codes and it gave me knock sensor and starter switch/circuit.

What should i do?

Thanks

Possible maf as it won't show any cel ? A known weakness , try a swap with some one else you know to see if it helps , but do a Ecu reset when you do do it

does not run maf then, id be inclined to put the standard filter and airbox back on it, that filter won't be doing much

I apologise for my earlier remark and agree with the above so try and get it back to standard as someone has messed about with the car and in my opinion has messed things up as you cannot just fit different air intakes etc. without a mapping session or you will be asking for trouble. up.Good luck.

what because the guy is having problems with an impreza gl, they do get running problems too not just a turbo, defo needs to remove that filter though and see if it improves, it demo won't make it run any better with it on

Not because it is not a turbo, but he asks for advice then goes on to say that firmly a 99 impreza does not have a maf fitted so if he know`s so much when he is wrong why ask for advice?.

because he has replaced a whole bunch of sensors and that one is not applicable to that engine as it don't have one, I'm pretty sure that filter will be causing it to through up random, faults in the knock sensor so id start with that and see if it runs better.

Sadly when i purchased the car it did not come with the airbox so i do not have one to stick on and see if it runs better, I was driving around earlier and it stumbled on me that maybe it is my injectors? when i used some injector cleaner it cleared up the problem for a short time but after that it just died again. Opinions?

Have you taken the knock sensor off and inspected it? You can sometimes see the cracks.
You could try and clean it and clean where it sits but I would replace personally.

I will just buy a new one can pick one up for bout £10 so not worth trying to fix if its not broken, will post back with results. P.S Going to change my spark plug gaskets as well think that is causing most of the issue

Just changed my knock sensor yesterday mate my self I'm no mechanic but even I managed to do it I had the same symptoms hesitation and underpowered what I will say if you change knock sensor your self is take a note of the postion of the old sensor on the block and put new one in the same postion and 2 do not tighten to much they should be torqued to a certain pressure but I'm just lucky and mine is working properly and the car is back to being a stabbed rat now hope this helps and hope you get it fixed
