Default dodgy looking o2 sensor

hi, ive been trying to find my rich running issue and checked my 02 sensor earlier to find it looked weird lol its really slim and its only got two wires?? is this right?? its also got a s/s braided line which comes upto the engine bay into a roundish connecter near the o/s strutt. its got a stright through exhaust fitted and im wondering if this is an after market item maybe?

its about half way down the up pipe btw

1996 wrx

any help advice or knowledge much appreciated,

i would say about as slim as this one but mines a braided line and a different connector, it only has two wires which is what puzzles me i thought o2 sensors had at least 3 wires

Sounds more like an EGT probe maybe?

Lambda would have 4 wires and may be in the downpipe or centre pipe rather than up pipe.

ive just done a search on ebay to look at some decat pipes and they all seem to have the o2 sensor at the top near the turbo where as mines at the bottom just before it bends to go straight back,

where is the original multplug and what should it look like?

Are there no numbers on the sensor to see what you have ?

thats what im beginning to think, when i bought it, it had some lamco gauges below the cd player, one read temp i think it might of been for that as it was always different to my temp gauge on the dash

in which case my car currently has no o2 sensor which would explain the rich running

on the early JDM cars they had a factory EGT probe in that position.......

your Lambda sensor is in the OS Exhaust header collector just before it meets the up-pipe

Ok I've been and had a look today and I'm sure the one at the bottom of the downpipe is a EGT sensor.. u then found an O2 sensor on the o/s header as someone mentioned earlier which is plugged correctly BUT I also found another O2 sensor just before the headers bolt to the turbo(up pipe??) But that was not plugged in the lead is just dangling in the engine bay??

Same as mine mate... I changed mine today was £80 for a new one from euro car parts so hopefully il see a rise In mpg.... I did test mine first tho with a multimeter, the heating element was nackerd causing it to give a lean reading which in response the ecu was running a rich mixture.... I think lol
