My 06 WRX Hawkeye single button ignition key is VERY worn now and starting to fall apart. Apart from going to a Subaru main stealer, what are my options for getting a replacement? Does anyone know or has anyone been through this already?
I've done quite a bot of searching so far with no luck. I don't want one of those fancy titanium blue STI keys as my car isn't an STI but I use the button on the key for the doors every day and I'd either like a brand new version of this or something similar that doesn't mean I have to sell the wife & kids to afford it.
Thanks in advance.

Get yourself a blank genuine get a local place to cut it and there's a little black transponder rather like a rectangle shape put that in the new casing and off you go no need for expensive electricians to match the keys as you would with a vw hope that helps

Thanks for the reply mate. I've just been loooking through fleabay actually and the blanks are nowhere near as expensive as I thought. Something like £41 new. So I may do exactly that, buy one, cut it and put my transponder in.
What I'd really love is a more modern folding key. Don't suppose anyone has done this upgrade to their Impreza?

Timpsons can cut you a key with the transponder chip inside that is copied from your original key but it dosnt have the provision for the alarm buttons. You can buy a second hand oe key fob and easily reprogram it yourself to work with your alarm system. You could try and take them apart and reassemble the new blade and transponder chip in the second hand fob or just keep them together on the same key ring for emergency use.
